The Alabama Braves posted a perfect 3-0 record in Prattville Sunday to capture their first USSSA 14U Tournament Championship of the fall 2011 season. The Braves defeated the Enterprise Stealth 4-1 and the Brookwood Panthers 9-0, but the trip east was highlighted by a 4-3 win over the Northside Predators of Tuscaloosa in the championship game, a team that two years ago soundly defeated the Braves 12-2 in the Demopolis Spring Lead – Off championship game. The win over the top ranked Predators pushed the team all the way into a No. 5 spot on the United States Specialty Sports Association 14U AAA national power rankings, No. 3 in the Southeast Region, and No.1 in Alabama. It is the first time in the organization’s short 3 year history to break into the national rankings. In 2011 the USSSA sanctioned over 35,000 baseball teams in 20 age divisions and 4 classifications, A, AA, AAA, and Major, in the United States, Canada, and the Caribbean. In 2011 over four thousand 14U teams were sanctioned in 4 classifications.
